Sveta Lab hosted Prof. Arun Prash @MIRM_Blr
We hosted an engaging seminar by Dr. Arun Prakash, MD, PhD, from the University of California, San Francisco, who presented his latest research on the role of the gut microbiome in regulating immune responses during lung injury. His comprehensive discussion on how metabolites such as butyrate, propionate, and tryptophan influence lung injury mechanisms offered a compelling new perspective on host–microbe interactions in pulmonary health

Sveta attended the Hyderabad Literary Festival 2026
Sveta enjoyed the Hyderabad Literary Festival this year. The panel discussions and exhibitions were excellent, and the organisers did a fantastic job of curating everything so thoughtfully and keeping the festival running smoothly.
She was a panelist for a Science and the City session on scars, beautifully moderated by Rohini Subrahmanyam. Her questions and steady presence created a space where the conversation could flow naturally and stay grounded, even as we explored personal and scientific dimensions of scars. I’m also very grateful to Somdatta Karak, PhD and Tejah Balantrapu for inviting me to be part of this thoughtful and fun event.

Sveta Lab attended InDRC2025 and GIC2025
PhD students Yash, Soumyadip and Dr. Sveta attended Indian Drosophila Research Conference held at the beautiful campus of IISER-Mohali from Dec 11th to 13th. Both Yash and Soumyadip presented poster on their research. Dr. Sveta gave a talk on the current on current done in the lab.
PhD student Ankita also attended Global ImmunoCourse 2025 at Ashoka University.

Dr. Chakrabarti organized a guest lecture by Prof. Martin Lowe on studying the mechanism of secretory trafficking in the Golgi apparatus and b-cell receptor signaling during the cell spread phenomenon.

Dr. Chakrabarti organized the departmental celebration of National Science Day programs at MIRM, MAHE-Blr. Prof. P N Rangrajan, as the keynote speaker, gave an enlightening talk on his journey from research and development to industrial production of Indigenous vaccines.
NGS Data-analysis workshop
Dr. Chakrabarti, Yash, and Soumyadip attended the 2-day hands-on training workshop on NGS data analysis using command line tools at Genotypic, Bangalore.
Gender equity and Leadership Conference!
Dr. Chakrabarti attended a 2-day meeting organized by IndiaBiosciences at IIT-Bombay focused on gender equity in India; "Dialogue on leadership roles for women in shaping academia."
